Officials feared traffic chaos for Toronto's commuters Thursday morning after a serious tractor-trailer accident continued to seal off part of North America's busiest highway.
The city experienced all-day gridlock as drivers poured on to alternative routes to avoid the crash -- which shut an exit ramp of the 401 on to the Don Valley Parkway -- during both the morning and afternoon rush hours yesterday.
It began early on Thursday morning, just after midnight, when a truck loaded with paper and Styrofoam came down a ramp, rammed into a guardrail and exploded under a highway overpass
